Evan Platis is...

The Long Haired Greek!

"The long-haired Greeks" is a recurring epithet used by Homer to describe the Achaeans & Mycenaeans who sailed to Troy in the Iliad. This is where the name comes from...but yes, Evan is Greek (obviously) and he has been known to have long hair from time to time.

Evan is true to himself 100% of the time. You can hear the sincerity in his music. His latest single My Dear, My Darling heart-wrenchingly depicts a long-distance relationship by saying all the things left unsaid. This is an undeniably California tune - employing both surf-rock tones and folk instruments. Evan made the move from California to Austin, TX in 2025, and is now performing on the same stages as some of his musical heroes like Shakey Graves and Matthew Logan Vasquez.

Everything changed for Evan when he won a Martin guitar through an American Songwriter contest in 2014. He had been writing songs for over 5 years at that point, but never had the right equipment to perform live. At that same time, North County San Diego was experiencing a blooming music scene. He took his songs and his guitar without instruction or know-how for 8 years, soaking up as much knowledge and experience as possible from friends and peers who were participating in this emerging music scene. He put in the work, and grew more and more with each song he wrote and performed.

After spending 3 years in Oakland, CA nursing a broken heart and working with music producer AJ Hicks, Evan finally released his debut single Concussions in 2025 and the follow-up track My Dear, My Darling in 2026. Bitten by the recording bug, Evan is mustering everything within his power to keep working as a professional musician.
